The holiday season has come and passed, now you’re trying to figure out what to do with yourself. Is your home in disarray from hosting? Maybe taking down all the decorations left your home feeling empty? Whatever it is that is making you feel some type of post-holiday blues… it’s a new year, a new you, and time for a new home. Or a home that feels new anyways!
How can you do this? Try the 3 D’s:
DECLUTTER.
Pack away and store those holiday decorations for next year. While taking them down, sort through them and decide whether you’ll use them again next year, or if it’s time to replace them. Organize them in labelled storage bins to make finding and accessing them easier for next season. Find places for all your new holiday gifts and gadgets, perhaps in a chic and tidy shelving unit. Strategically placed storage is a game-changer when it comes to making a room look less cluttered! Overwhelmed with too much stuff? Consider recycling, selling or donating some old things in your home that you no longer need. The best time to declutter your home is right after the holidays and at the beginning of the new year.

DEEP-CLEAN.
Between house guests, holiday meals, decor and gifts, you’re probably ready to give your home a deep clean. As you’re tidying and organizing, think to clean as you go… and make it thorough! I mean, you’re already picking up after yourself so you may as well go the extra mile while you’re already on your hands and knees. Have all your cleaning supplies with you as you move around your house, wash your linens, vacuum your carpets and clean out your refrigerator. To avoid overwhelm, split your cleaning tasks into multiple days or weeks.
DIGITIZE.
Holiday cards. We love to give them, we love to receive them, but let’s face it… the extra paper can take up room on your counter, on your tables, wherever you choose to display them! With all the modern technology now, put it to good use… maybe it’s time to digitize those holiday cards.
And now you’ve just gotten a major head start on your spring cleaning! A nice, neat and fresh house will have you ready for the new year!
