Enjoy a quiet cup of coffee before work? Always experimenting with new recipes? Love hosting and preparing Sunday dinner with the family? No matter how you use your kitchen, we’ve got some great tips to help you start the remodeling process.

Kitchen Layout

When designing your kitchen, pick a layout that will enhance both the functionality and the look of the room. A clever layout can  make all the difference in helping you to get the most out of the space. Take into consideration your family’s size, lifestyle, and storage needs when making your decision. Consult with a professional to determine what is possible in your kitchen with regard to architectural or structural constraints.

Here are a few of the most common kitchen layouts:

Tip: Keep appliance door swings in mind when placing an island in your kitchen layout

Color Scheme

The colour scheme in your kitchen should be chosen strategically. Take into consideration the size, shape of the room as well as the amount of natural light in the space. If your kitchen doesn’t get a lot of natural light,  use a lighter colour palette to make it feel bigger. If your kitchen is larger or features lots of natural light, balance the space with darker tones to make it feel warmer. You’ll also want to make sure your color scheme matches the cabinets, hardware, appliances, and tiles.

Inspiration: While the base colour of our Glencrest kitchen remodel is white, it features wooden tones and a contrast island colour that adds charm and warmth to the space.

Kitchen Tiles

First and foremost, your chosen kitchen floor tiles should be safe to walk on. You can choose from cork, bamboo, or vinyl tiles for your flooring. Think of your lifestyle when choosing your floor tiles. If you have kids or elders at home, we recommend choosing ones with slightly raised texture as these are safer to walk on. When it comes to countertops, ceramic tiles, quarry, and porcelain work best. For backsplashes and walls, adding glass tiles can do wonders.

There are lot’s of important decisions to be made when it comes to choosing kitchen tiles. Our team at the Bradburn Group of Companies would be glad to assist you in the process.

Kitchen Appliances

One of the largest investments you can make for your kitchen are the appliances. You need to thoroughly select the appliances for your kitchen as these have a big impact on the room’s functionality and aesthetics. Consider their measurements before buying. Be sure their sizes are just enough for the space allotted for them. Make sure they have all the features useful to you. As for the style, opt for the standard stainless steel designer venture out and experiment with different unique colours and details.

Tip: Choose a budget and stick with it. This will not only ensure you aren’t overspending on your new kitchen appliances, but will also help you narrow down your search.

Remodeling your kitchen is an exciting project to take on!
